Elements of MoneyTM - for members ages 11 - 17*

Parents or guardians can customize accounts to help teach their children good money-management habits. All products are co-signed by parents or guardians, allowing them to pick the exact combination that's right for their child's maturity and individual needs. Accounts automatically come with e-Statements.

All memberships include:

  • Savings account (required).
  • Quarterly Elements of Money newsletter.
  • Elements of Money website, which includes a blog and articles written just for teens.
  • Monthly Elements of Money podcasts, delivered to your teen's desktop or mobile device.
  • Elements of Money financial-education videos on demand via YouTube.
  • Elements of Money online communities on Facebook and Twitter.
  • BalanceTrack "Teens and Money" financial-education tutorial.

Options include:

  • Youth checking account. Members can qualify for a dividend-earning checking account with no monthly service fee or per-check charges. Just $50 opens an account.
  • Visa® debit card (which is tied to the member's checking account) or ATM card, both with daily and weekend limits of $200.
  • Youth Visa® credit card. Good everywhere Visa is accepted, this card usually has a credit limit ranging from $200 to $500. It has no annual fees and a low interest rate of 9.57% APR.
  • Youth loans of $200 to $1,000 are available for any good reason (like buying a musical instrument or funding a school trip) provided the teen member has a source of income and has been an account holder in good standing for 90 days. Loans are repayable over 12 to 15 months.

Youth accounts (Elements of Money, and M3 Money Club) will earn 7.71% APY on any amount up to $500 in their savings account and 7.71% APY on any amount up to $500 in their checking account, when they receive e-Statements.
